Things I’ve seen/thought in the past 12 hours…
- Completely flooded streets in front of my office and in front of the apartment where I was at a party on Saturday night
- Transformer exposions that lit up the sky bright green
- The scared face of an NYC delivery man
- Neighboring apartments without power, and people frantically waving flashlights around. I see you!
- Power being shut down preemptively across lower Manhattan, darkening the Brooklyn Bridge and Wall Street
- The whole front of a building Chelsea being ripped off
- A crane breaking and swaying in the wind for hours
- If something happens to me, will the medical examiner assess the last food I ate? In that case, let me help — pumpkin chocolate chip bread, pot pie, cookies, a turkey BLT, fries, a pickle, more pumpkin bread, and 2 vitamin waters
- Why didn’t I buy matches?
- Why do I only have this one teensy, tiny flashlight?
- I would rather be stuck in a powerless apartment for three days than be a weather reporter stuck outside in this
- You’re not going to air the new episode of How I Met Your Mother? That could be the last tv I watch for days, why you gotta be like that?
- Oh? 90 mph winds? So the winds are going the equivalent speed of the speeding ticket I was awarded in the middle of nowhere in Indiana in 2006.
